Review: Favorite Things from Human Nature

In my ongoing yet choppy quest to go organic without completely breaking the bank, I have come to know a true friend in Human Heart Nature (or to me, just Human Nature). The brand is proudly Filipino, pro-poor and pro-environment, its slogan already strumming the right chord on my social conscience. Add the fact that the products are affordable, organic, and effective, well then I am sold. The following are my tried and tested favorites:

Human Nature Sunflower Oil: 23 Miracles in One Bottle.

1. Sunflower Oil – I suppose it is Sunflower Oil to Human Nature as it is Emu Oil to Venus and Mars. Dubbed as delivering over 20 miracles in one bottle, this special little thing is jam-packed with superstars vitamins A, D and E. Since it is oil, a little bit goes a long way. Personally, it’s great for the chapped bits of skin, i.e. elbow crooks, lip corners, around the nose, and even as lightener for eye bags and pimple marks.  It offers a long list of skin benefits, for your perusal at your leisure here.

Human Nature Moisturizing Day Fluid and Night Cream

Awesome twosome: Human Nature Moisturizing Fluids. Organic skincare at its finest and simplest.

2. Natural Moisturizing Day Fluid – For many years, my dermatologist’s moisturizer formula has worked for me. But in recent years I’ve been trying to find an organic replacement. For one, the thing does not have an inci list, and for another, whenever I ask my derma what it is made of, I always get an iffy answer. Scary. Thank Mother Earth for Human Nature’s Day Fluid. The formula is lightweight, completely non greasy, and moisturizes like a pro. The dark dry patches around my lips and nose are gone, thanks to this baby and its 15 vitamins and minerals. As my wise younger sis said, “one of them is bound to work.”

3. Natural Moisturizing Night Fluid with Plant Collagen – A few weeks after my skin has accepted the Day Fluid, I braved the purchase of its tandem, the Night Fluid. I did not read enough on Plant Collagen and I am feeling quite lazy to do so to be honest. But the fact that I have been waking up to softer skin no thanks to harsh chemicals is good enough for me.

Human Nature Natural Feminine Wash

Human Nature Natural Feminine Wash. The more sensitive the skin, the more natural protection it deserves.

4. Natural Feminine Wash – Yeah, I went there. Any woman knows the perils of being a woman. And this product gently answers all concerns without that strong nauseating chemical smell of most feminine wash formulas. Get the Chamomile Cool formula for an interesting change.

Iffy products: Human Nature Makeup

One Christmas, I looted the Human Nature kiosk in Glorietta and inside Beauty Bar as gifts for my colleagues. Though I am sure the bath goodies won’t do anyone anything but good,  the compact powder and lipstick were major letdowns. I gave my baby sis the compact powder to be her first makeup of sorts, and the thing cracked before she can even manage a dent on the pan. The lipstick was all sorts of cakey and gross and completely un-spreadable. I was sad to throw both away and kinda embarrassed for giving them as presents too. That was about 2 years ago and I hope the organic mavens behind the brand have upped the formula already. Though honestly, I am still afraid to try again. Sorry. Still a fan though!

Photos and product descriptions from Human Nature’s official website. Products are available in Beauty Bar and Sesou outlets in major department stores (Trinoma, Glorietta, Greenbelt), and through your friendly direct dealers. Also available through their website for both local and international shipping!

Hi! Thank you for this review – we’re delighted to find out you love our personal care products.:)

Regarding the makeup – you’ll be happy to know that we’ve improved our formulation of our lipstick, mineral powder, and foundation since we first launched them. We still refrain from using synthetic binders in our powders and silicone/chemical pigments in our lipsticks – but they’re now less prone to cracking and the lipstick glide’s improved. 🙂

Check and check to HN’s sunflower oil and fem wash! I’ve been an avid user for about a year now.

I’m still trying to finish my Skinfood haul from last year’s trip to Seoul but frankly. my face isn’t liking the usual stuff I apply anymore 🙁 Or maybe it’s the late nights and greasy foodfest. And good old stress!

And so, I am in search of a more natural regimen and remembered you “fire exit” feeds from Twitterworld.

Imma be lurking around your vanity posts coz I know your reviews are awesome 😛

Awww thanks love. You know you are always on my mind when I think skin care and make up. Haha. The skin is a creature of habit apparently, and is an intelligent being that gets to know the things you put on, enough to get tired of them too. Best to keep switching things up with other good quality (natural, of possible) products 🙂

I had breakouts with the sunflower oil. I wanted to erase these annoying pimple marks but i started getting more. I guess I am not hiyang. But I love their balancing toner (orange & elemi). I’m planning to buy the night moisturizer. Nice review! 🙂

Hi Hilda! I’ve had similar experiences the first time I went organic. I guess the skin is so used to chemicals that when you suddenly shift, it reacts. Try applying first in a small area and observe, specially if the store allows testers 🙂 Thanks for reading!
