Jessica Day dons the pompadour for a change.
After last week’s episode of Quick Hardening Caulk, endangered fish with perfectly round breasts, and magnificent sexy times, the geniuses behind New Girl have decided to pour cold water above our heads with a funeral episode. Good thinking, I believe. Viewers are on the point of combustion and we need a moment to fan ourselves.
Elvis drops by to personally console Nick by virtue of their being ‘roomfriends.’
This week it looks like we will be entertained with a Jessica Day version of the King himself as she, Schmidt and Winston go on a trip to Chicago. Nick Miller is not complaining.

Better articulated as “OMG happens now??” after the “kiss that rocked all social media” by the show’s fanatic Newbies (raises hand). I personally wasn’t there when Ross and Rachel were unraveling their romance in the sitcom game-changer FRIENDS, but I think it wouldn’t be as adorably dorky, fall-off-the-couch funny and witty as it is now with New Girl‘s Nick and Jess. Major props to showrunner Liz Meriwether for the genius timing and the awkwardness that followed suit. Critics be damned while the rest of us are glued to the tube and cursing the hot summer day this season ends.
As for the never ending comparison to the FRIENDS royal couple, no I don’t think they are the new Ross and Rachel. They are their own Nick and Jess. Did Ross ever write one and half zombie novels? I don’t think so. Rachel too was never “old-fashioned below the belt.” As only Jessica Day would put it, “I’ve got a Civil War-era piece of equipment and that’s all she wrote.”

When going to a buffet dinner, the first priority is comfort and ease of movement. Yes, there is a well-thought out fashion strategy for dining out in that particularly high speed, high volume environment. For that night, I turn to my new eating pants a.k.a. space pants a.k.a. SHINee pants (black stretch and faux leather panels), my red checked Nick Miller shirt, and trusty black Converse high cuts. My cousin came in with Jake the dog in his shirt pocket, and his luxurious ridiculous hair in a ponytail.
Buffet on.

Part 2. Buffet review of City Buffet SM Fairview branch
Pros – acceptable variety of dishes, from Filipino, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Western fare. A lot of dessert offerings. Good cooking. Attendant staff.
Cons – you pay for drinks separately, but that is standard regulation for buffets. The limited offering of sashimi (no tuna?? seriously??) is unacceptable to me though. So is the limited Korean fare and lack of banchan.
Verdict – worth the time, money, and the wider waistband. I suggest though not to go there after only a recent Vikings buffet visit. Everything just pales in comparison.
There are a lot of times you would wish you didn’t answer the itch to know the spoilers. Like in every Twilight movie (because you know how it will all end anyway, you fan girl) and in watching every movie preview that when pieced together basically already spills the entire story (most recent, annoying case in point: Nicholas Sparks’ Safe Haven).
Like in the kiss presented above between zombie-novel writer, bartender and underachiever extraordinaire Nick Miller and short-in-stature-but-not-in-spunk Jessica Day. Despite the subtle flirtations and that easy chemistry planted so wisely into the series as early as the New Girl pilot, I really did not see this coming.
Thank you Liz Meriwether. And thank YOU, Nick Miller. Where have you been all my life?
